What Stands Out
What To Check
The PH1420 is the engine of EGO's Multi-Head System. It is a motor, a carbon fiber shaft, a handle and a trigger, and nothing else. What it becomes depends on which head you lock into the collar: a string trimmer, an edger, a pole saw, a hedge trimmer, a cultivator, even a snow shovel.
Two things to get straight before ordering. First, this is the bare tool, so no battery and no charger come with it. Second, it takes any EGO 56V ARC Lithium pack, which means the battery from an LM2135SP mower kit or an LB6504 blower kit drops right in. If neither of those is already in your garage, add a 56V 5.0Ah battery and a charger to the order.
The Numbers That Matter
Nine attachments, one motor. The math is the whole argument for the system. A separate trimmer, edger, pole saw and hedge trimmer means four motors, four shafts and four batteries mounted on four tools hanging in the garage. This is one of each, plus heads on a hook.
Tool-free collar. Loosen, pull, seat the next head, tighten. Going from trimming a fence line to edging a driveway is a thirty second change, which is the only reason people actually do both in one pass.
Carbon fiber shaft with a lifetime warranty. The shaft is the part that takes the abuse on a multi-head tool, since every attachment loads it differently. EGO backs it for life when you register within 90 days, which is worth the five minutes.
Two-speed selector plus variable trigger. Low speed stretches a charge on light trimming. High speed is there for thick growth. The trigger still modulates inside whichever you pick.
| Spec | What it decides |
|---|---|
| 9 compatible attachments | How many separate tools you skip buying |
| Tool-free quick attachment collar | Whether you actually swap heads mid-job |
| Carbon fiber shaft, lifetime warranty | How the tool holds up to years of attachment swaps |
| Bare tool, no battery or charger | What else has to be in the cart |
| Any EGO 56V ARC Lithium pack | Whether your mower battery already runs it |
Who It Is For
The dad who has already committed to 56V and wants the edges to match the mow without buying four more machines. Start it with the STA1500 string trimmer attachment and add the EA0800 edger attachment when the driveway line starts creeping. If the battery question is still open, the BA2800T 56V 5.0Ah pack is the standard answer, and the LM2135SP mower kit is the cheapest way to get a battery and charger in the door. For hauling heads and hardware out to the yard, the WORKPRO 16 inch wide-mouth tool bag does the carrying.

The Short Version
The power head is the hub of EGO's Multi-Head System: buy it once, then buy attachment heads instead of whole tools. It is a bare tool, so budget a 56V ARC Lithium battery and a charger alongside it unless a kit already put those in your garage.
