What Stands Out

  • Ten lights in one box, enough to line a real walkway rather than suggest one
  • Solar and staked: no extension cords running across the lawn for people to trip on
  • IP65 rated waterproof, dustproof and rustproof for rain, snow and heat
  • No tools and no wiring; the pole, battery box and head click together
  • Stainless steel poles rather than painted steel that rusts at the ground line

What To Check

  • Solar means they need real daily sun, and late October sun is short and low
  • Runtime drops as the season gets colder and the days get shorter
  • Nowhere near as bright as a wired low-voltage path light
  • Plastic stakes snap in hard clay if you force them

What This Is

The practical half of a Halloween yard. Everything else on this shelf is for the people looking; path lights are for the people walking.

Trick-Or-Treat Night Is A Safety Problem

Dozens of kids in costumes that restrict vision, crossing a dark lawn, in the dark, fast. Lining the actual path they will take is the single most useful thing you can add, and solar stakes do it without a cord across the walkway for someone to catch a foot on.

Set Expectations On Solar

Solar path lights are mood lighting, not illumination. They mark an edge and give a warm glow. In late October, with shorter days and a lower sun, expect less runtime than the summer spec suggests. Put them where they get afternoon sun, not under the tree you decorated.

The Short Version

The one piece here that is about safety, not scares. Line the path the kids actually walk, and site them where they get afternoon sun.
