What Stands Out

  • 11.5 feet tall, which puts it above a single-story roofline and makes it the thing people see first
  • The hovering illusion is the design: it reads as floating rather than standing on a pole
  • Sound and motion sensors fire the jaw animation and audio when someone walks up
  • LED illuminated, so it still works as a silhouette after dark
  • Assembly is a pole into the prop, not an afternoon of hardware

What To Check

  • Needs 3 AAA batteries that are not included, which is the classic Halloween-night problem
  • An 11.5 foot prop on a pole is a sail: it needs real staking or it comes down in wind
  • Sound-activated props trigger off passing cars and bark at an empty street all night
  • Big props need big storage; this does not go in a shoebox

What This Is

The showstopper. If the goal is being the house people drive past slowly, one 11.5 foot animated prop does more than twenty small ones.

Buy The Batteries Now

It takes 3 AAA batteries and does not include them. Every year somebody sets this up on the 30th and discovers that at 9pm. Put them in the bin with the prop when you store it.

Stake It Like You Mean It

An 11.5 foot figure with fabric is a sail, and late October brings wind. Use more anchoring than the instructions suggest, guy it off if you can, and have a plan to drop it for a storm. A prop lying face down in the yard on the 29th is worse than no prop.

One Note On The Sensors

Sound activation will fire at traffic, wind, and the neighbor's dog. If your house is close to a road, expect it to run most of the evening whether anyone is there or not, and site it where that is not annoying inside the house.

The Short Version

The one prop that makes the house. Buy the AAA batteries with it, overstake it, and have a plan to drop it if a storm comes through.
