What Stands Out

  • 1,400 square feet of coverage, enough for a full front elevation with webbing left over
  • 150 plastic spiders included, so the webs read as inhabited instead of just fuzzy
  • Stretches over bushes, railings, porch columns, windows and gutters without hardware
  • Costs less than almost anything else that changes the whole look of a house
  • Works indoors on mirrors, chandeliers and doorways for the inside of the party

What To Check

  • Stretch webbing snags on rough brick and shrubs and does not come off cleanly
  • One hard rain mats it into grey clumps that have to be pulled and replaced
  • Genuinely bad for birds and small wildlife if you leave it up past the season
  • Looks like a bag of cotton unless you stretch it thin, which takes longer than people expect

What This Is

The decoration that does the most per dollar. One bag thinned out across a porch, two bushes and a window frame changes the entire read of a house from the street.

How To Not Make It Look Like Cotton

The mistake is using too much in one place. A handful is meant to stretch to roughly four or five times its bagged size, until you can see through it. Thin, wide, and anchored at three or four points reads as web. Thick and bunched reads as a pillow someone tore up.

Two Honest Warnings

Fine synthetic webbing traps birds, bats and lizards, which is a real problem when it stays up into November. Take it down the first week after Halloween.

And it does not come off brick, stucco or evergreen shrubs cleanly. Put it on railings, posts and smooth surfaces, and keep it off anything you will be picking at in the spring.

The Short Version

The highest-impact dollar in the whole shelf. Stretch it thin, and take it down the first week of November before it starts catching birds.
