What This Is
A steel-framed garage workbench with a pegboard back panel, a lower storage shelf and a power strip mounted to the frame.
Load Rating Is The Spec That Matters
The difference between a workbench and a table is whether you can lean on it, clamp to it and hit something on it without the whole thing moving. A 2000 lb rating means the frame is braced for that. Benches that do not publish a rating generally cannot, and you find out the first time you mount a vice and try to use it.
Get The Height Right
This is the decision people regret. General bench work wants the surface at about wrist height when you stand relaxed, around 36 to 38 inches for most adults. Detailed work wants it higher; heavy assembly and anything you lean into wants it lower. A fixed-height bench is fine when the height matches the work, and a daily irritation when it does not. Measure before you buy.
Pegboard Changes How The Garage Works
Tools in drawers are tools you do not find. A pegboard directly behind the work surface means the ten tools you use constantly are visible and one reach away, and it is immediately obvious when one is missing. Buy a generous assortment of hooks at the same time; the board without hooks is just a wall.
Power At The Bench
An integrated strip sounds like a minor feature and is not. It is the difference between plugging in a drill and dragging a cord across a floor you are also walking on. Make sure the bench's final position has an outlet within reach of its cord.
The Short Version
A proper bench at a reasonable price. Check the height against the work you actually do, because that is the one thing you cannot change later.
