Product Information, Not A Review

Specs, pricing and buying notes taken from the manufacturer so you can compare this against whatever else you are looking at. I have not had this one in my hands. When it goes through real use it gets rewritten as a full review, with a rating and my own photos.

What Stands Out

  • Paper micro-filtration produces a genuinely clean cup with no grit, which no metal mesh achieves
  • Brews in about two minutes and cleans in about ten seconds: pop the puck out and rinse
  • Full control over time, temperature and grind, so it rewards experimenting
  • Makes espresso-style concentrate, standard coffee, or cold brew from one device
  • Plastic and effectively unbreakable, which is why it has become the default travel and camping brewer
  • Includes 50 paper micro-filters

What To Check

  • One cup at a time: it is the wrong tool for a houseful of people
  • Paper filters are a consumable you have to keep buying
  • It is a plastic tube and looks like one on a counter
  • The pressing takes a bit of hand strength, which is worth knowing for anyone with grip or wrist problems

What This Is

The most forgiving coffee maker there is, and the one most likely to survive being thrown in a duffel bag.

Why It Travels So Well

It is a plastic tube. It does not break, it weighs nothing, it needs no power, and it cleans with a rinse. A French press in a bag is a glass problem waiting to happen; this one has been to the top of mountains.

The Paper Filter Is The Difference

Paper catches the oils and the fines that metal mesh lets through. That makes a cleaner, brighter cup, and it is why AeroPress coffee tastes noticeably different from French press coffee rather than just better or worse. Try both before deciding which you prefer.

One Cup At A Time

Worth being honest about. If you are making coffee for four people on a Sunday, this is a chore. For one person, before work, it is close to perfect.

The Short Version

Unbreakable, cleans in ten seconds, and the paper filter makes a genuinely different cup. One at a time, which is the only real catch.
