Product Information, Not A Review

Specs, pricing and buying notes taken from the manufacturer so you can compare this against whatever else you are looking at. I have not had this one in my hands. When it goes through real use it gets rewritten as a full review, with a rating and my own photos.

What Stands Out

  • No WiFi, no app, no account: a dial you turn and then forget
  • Eleven settings including on-at-dusk with 2 to 10 hour countdowns, dusk-to-dawn, and always on or off
  • Photocell sensor tracks real sunset, so it adjusts itself through the season
  • Repeats daily with nothing to reset
  • Waterproof construction built for extreme cold, and ETL listed
  • Works when the internet is down, which is when outdoor lights matter most

What To Check

  • Must be mounted vertically at least 2 ft above ground for the waterproofing to work as designed
  • No remote control: changing the setting means walking outside to the dial
  • The photocell needs to see actual daylight, so it cannot hide behind a bush
  • One outlet

What This Is

The answer for everyone who does not want another device on their WiFi.

The Case Against Smart, For Once

A smart plug is better when you want to change things from your phone. For outdoor seasonal lights, you set a schedule in October and never touch it again, which means every smart feature is overhead: a 2.4 GHz connection that drops, an app that updates, an account, a cloud service that could be discontinued.

A photocell and a dial does the same job, works in a power cut as soon as power returns, and will still work in fifteen years.

Follow The Mounting Instruction

Vertical, at least two feet off the ground. That is not a suggestion: it is how water is meant to run off it and how the sensor avoids being blinded by snow or leaf litter. Lying it in the mulch is how these fail.

The Short Version

No app, no account, no WiFi to drop. For seasonal lights you set once, a photocell and a dial beats a smart plug.
