What Stands Out

  • Works with no WiFi at all, using a built-in SIM on major US carriers
  • 3W solar panel and a 7500mAh battery, so it needs no power run either
  • The only practical option for a barn, a gate, a job site, a deer lease or a cabin
  • 2K resolution with color night vision, reading plates and faces to about 50 ft
  • 360 degree pan and tilt, so one camera covers a yard instead of one angle
  • 37 days of included data to test it properly before committing

What To Check

  • A cellular data plan is required and ongoing; this is a subscription product, not a purchase
  • The camera works only with its built-in SIM, so you cannot shop carriers
  • Solar needs genuine direct sun; a north-facing mount under a tree will not keep up
  • Cellular upload means slower live view and lower effective quality than a wired camera

When do you need a cellular security camera?

When there is no internet where you need the camera. That is the entire use case, and nothing else solves it. A barn at the back of a property, a gate at the end of a drive, a trailer on a job site, a cabin, a deer lease, a rental between tenants. Any WiFi camera at those locations is a non-starter.

If the spot has usable WiFi, buy a WiFi camera. It will be cheaper to buy, free to run, and better quality.

Price in the data plan

This is the part people miss. The hardware is a one-time cost; the cellular data is forever. Thirty-seven days of included data is generous for testing, and after that it is a monthly line item. Work out that number before you buy, because over three years it will likely exceed the camera's price.

Will the solar keep up?

Only with real direct sun. A 3W panel in full southern exposure holds a 7500mAh battery indefinitely. The same panel shaded by a tree or facing north drains slowly through winter and you will be out there with a cable. Scout the sun at the mount point across a day before you drill anything.

Who should skip it

Anyone whose camera location has WiFi. You would be paying twice — once in hardware, once a month forever — for a capability you do not need.

The Short Version

The answer when there is no internet where the camera needs to be. Price the monthly data before you buy, and scout the sun at the mount point.
