What Stands Out
What To Check
Why a detachable solar panel is the feature here
Because the best place for a camera and the best place for a panel are almost never the same spot. Cameras want eaves, corners and shade; panels want open southern sky. A panel bolted to the camera body forces a compromise that usually ends with a camera you recharge by hand every six weeks. A separate panel on a cable removes it.
On-device AI versus cloud AI
On-device means the camera decides whether it saw a person without sending the clip anywhere first. That matters twice: it keeps working when your internet drops, and it means person detection is not held behind a subscription the way it is on most budget cameras. It is the strongest argument for this camera over cheaper ones.
The 24/7 recording tradeoff
Continuous recording is genuinely useful — motion detection misses things, and "what happened at 3am" is easier to answer with a full timeline. But it eats battery far faster than event clips, and 4K fills a 256GB card in a matter of days. Most people should run motion detection and switch to continuous only when there is a reason.
Who should skip it
If your camera spot has power, a plug-in camera does all of this better and costs less. Solar and battery exist to solve a wiring problem, not to improve the picture.
The Short Version
The detachable panel is the real feature: camera in the shade, panel in the sun. On-device AI means person detection without a subscription.
