What Stands Out

  • Gets into air vents, seams and cup holders where no cloth, brush or nozzle fits
  • Reusable until it darkens, which is weeks of normal use rather than a single pass
  • Lifts dust rather than pushing it deeper, which is what a brush in a vent actually does
  • Works on keyboards, remotes and laptops as well as a car interior
  • Cheap enough to keep one in the glovebox and one at a desk
  • Lavender scented rather than chemical

What To Check

  • Never wash it with water: that ruins it, and it is the most common way people kill one
  • Only for water-resistant surfaces; on anything porous the gel sticks and tears
  • Do not use it on a phone or monitor screen
  • Residue in a hot car if left somewhere it can soften and run

What This Is

A dollar-store-looking product that does one thing nothing else does: get dust out of a dashboard vent.

Why Brushes Fail At Vents

A detail brush in an air vent pushes dust further into the duct, where it comes back out the next time the fan runs. Tacky putty pressed in and pulled slowly takes the dust with it. The difference is obvious the first time.

The Two Rules That Keep It Alive

Do not wash it. Water is what destroys cleaning gel, and the instinct to rinse it when it looks dirty is why most people's lasts a week.

Only use it on hard, water-resistant surfaces. On fabric, foam or anything porous it grabs and tears, and now you are picking gel out of a vent instead of dust.

The Short Version

The only thing that really cleans a dashboard vent. Never rinse it with water, and keep it off anything porous.
