Who It Is For
The dad who wants the lights to do something useful without pulling wire. There is no subscription. The Govee Home app is required for setup and scenes, but Matter and voice control work after that, which makes these the least locked-in option on this shelf.
Two things to check before ordering. The listing says these cannot run on a smart switch, so the wall switch has to stay on all the time, which is a real conversation in a house where somebody flips it out of habit.
