Quick Specs
I know a lot of people out there are villainizing carbs. Low-carb this, low-carb that. Let me be the coach in the room: carbs may be the single piece missing from your training, the thing standing between you and performing better, feeling better, finding that second gas tank. Here's one most people have never heard: fat oxidation runs on carbohydrates. Villainizing carbs is one of the silliest, most misunderstood takes in all of fitness and nutrition. Now, overdoing anything will bite you: protein, carbs, fat, vitamins, even water. The poison is in the dose, not in any one good thing. But carbs, dosed right around training? That's fuel. Literal gas for your body.

The Advice I Give at the Gym
If you're taking a preworkout but you're not timing and dosing your carbs around your training, you are leaving so much on the table: a bigger pump, more energy, more endurance, more strength, all of it. Carbs will do more for your session than caffeine or any preworkout you can name. Macro over micro, always. Karbolyn has been one of the biggest game changers in my own training and for everyone at the gym I finally convince to take their carbs as seriously as their protein.
What separates Karbolyn from the sugar-water crowd is the sourcing: it's derived from whole foods. Potato, rice, and corn, not just maltodextrin or high-fructose corn syrup. That mix gives you simple carbohydrates for immediate energy and complex ones that sustain you deep into a long session, without the spike-and-crash.
Why the Hydrate Version
This is the smaller-dose option: 25 grams of carbs with an electrolyte panel riding along. Sodium, potassium, magnesium, phosphate. Living and training in Texas heat, that combination is fantastic; hydration and fuel in one shaker. (If you want double the carbs and you've got electrolytes handled elsewhere, the sibling Karbolyn Fuel is your scoop.) Full disclosure on how much I practice what I preach: I dictated this review walking on the treadmill under my desk, dosed up on Karbolyn Hydrate at that very moment. That's not a bit. That's a Tuesday.

The Taste Test That Matters
It tastes great and there's a flavor for everybody. I have proof. My dad might be the pickiest eater I have ever met, a lifelong lemon-lime Gatorade guy, and he swears by the Lemon Lime. If it passes him, it passes anyone.
Who Should Skip This
If your training is 45 easy minutes a few times a week, your body's stored fuel covers it. Extra intra-workout carbs are just extra carbs. Same if you're deliberately training fasted for weight management. This earns its spot when sessions run long, hard, or hot, and it's the first thing I recommend when a guy tells me his second hour always falls apart.

The Bottom Line
One of the biggest game changers in my training and for every client I convince to take carbs seriously: 25 grams of whole-food-derived Karbolyn with an electrolyte panel riding along. Fantastic in Texas heat. My picky-eater dad swears by the Lemon Lime. Fuel first; everything else is accessories.
