What Stands Out

  • Hydrocolloid gel cushion takes pressure off a blister so the walk can keep going
  • Ultra adhesive with tapered edges that Compeed says stay in place for several days
  • Waterproof, breathable and form fitting inside a boot
  • Medium, small and toe shapes in each pack

What To Check

  • A white bubble may form under the pad within 24 hours; Compeed says that is normal, but it surprises first-timers
  • Single-use pads cost more per piece than cutting moleskin off a roll

Compeed Advanced Blister Care pads are thick hydrocolloid gel bandages made for a blister that has already formed. This mixed-size bundle carries Amazon's Choice on its listing and sits on Amazon's Adhesive Bandages best-seller list. You get two packs, each with medium, small and toe shapes.

Compeed describes it as an active gel with moisture absorbing particles; the gel absorbs moisture and forms a cushion over the sore spot. On a ruck that means the boot presses on the pad instead of the blister.

The Numbers That Matter

4 medium, 4 small, 2 toe per pack. Mediums fit heels, smalls fit the sides of feet, toe pads wrap a toe. Two packs gives you a spare box for the truck.

Several days of wear. The tapered edges keep it from rolling up inside a sock, so one pad can carry you through the rest of the ruck and the next day.

Waterproof and breathable. Compeed builds it to fit the foot and keep water out.

Who It Is For

The dad who keeps walking when a blister shows up, and the one carrying the foot kit for kids on a long hike. For prevention, tape hot spots with Leukotape P or cushion them with a Dr. Scholl's Moleskin roll, and fix the fit with Superfeet High Arch insoles. A spare pack belongs in the First Aid Only kit in the truck.

The Short Version

Tape and moleskin are for before. Compeed is for when a blister already happened halfway through a ruck. The gel pad cushions it and stays on for days, and the mixed pack covers heels and toes for dad and the kids after a long hike.
