It does the one job a meat thermometer has: tell you the inside temperature so you stop guessing. Pick it up and motion sensing wakes it. Probe the thickest part, hit lock, and read the number away from the heat. Set it down and it goes back to sleep.

±0.9°F accuracy. Amazon and TempPro both list it, and it is NSF certified. That is close enough to pull a pork butt or a chicken thigh at the number you are aiming for.
Read speed, honestly. This is where the sources split. The Amazon title says 1 second, Amazon's own detail table says 4 seconds, and TempPro's page says 3 seconds. Plan on a few seconds, not an instant.
