What I Don't
Quick honesty before anything else: this is a product overview, not a review. I do not have a Suunto Ocean on my wrist yet. What follows is my read of the published specs as a strength coach and a longtime Suunto guy. Once I have actually lived with one, the full hands-on review will replace this page.
My history with the brand runs through the Suunto Core, the watch that went through my Marine Corps years with me. That history is the whole reason the Ocean is on my radar at all.
The Spec Read
The pitch is simple: a real dive computer and a real GPS sports watch in one housing. On the dive side it runs Suunto's Buhlmann 16 GF decompression algorithm with scuba, nitrox, technical, freediving, and snorkeling modes, plus wireless tank pressure support and full underwater route tracking. On the training side you get more than 115 sport modes, multi-band GNSS, free global offline maps, and a barometer with a storm alarm.
The screen is a 1.43 inch AMOLED touchscreen backed by three buttons, and Suunto disables the touch layer in the water, which is the right call. Battery claims: up to 50 hours of dive and training use with multi-band GPS, up to 200 hours in tour mode, and up to 16 days of daily use with heart rate on, 26 with it off. The case is sapphire glass and stainless steel, made in Finland with 100 percent renewable energy, and it takes standard 22 mm straps.
Who It Is For
The guy who dives and trains and refuses to run two devices. If you never put your face underwater, Suunto and everyone else will sell you a capable training watch for less money. But if diving is in your rotation, even a few trips a year, one watch that covers the gym, the trail, and the descent is the entire point of this thing.

On paper, a real dive computer and a real training watch in one sapphire and steel case, from the brand whose Core survived my Marine Corps years. I have not lived with it yet, so treat this as the spec read. The hands-on verdict comes once I have.
