What Stands Out

  • 40 percent smaller than the previous generation, which is what makes a ring tolerable to sleep in
  • Tracks more than 50 metrics including sleep, activity, stress, heart and metabolic health
  • All-titanium and more scratch resistant than earlier generations
  • Integrates with over 40 apps including Strava
  • A ring reads sleep better than most wrist wearables because it does not shift on the finger

What To Check

  • Membership is $5.99 a month after the first month, which makes this a subscription, not a purchase
  • Oura sizing is its own standard; you need the sizing kit before ordering
  • No screen, so everything lives in the app
  • Rings and heavy lifting are a bad combination: metal on a loaded barbell is a real risk

What This Is

A sleep and recovery tracker that happens to be a ring. If you already wear a watch, or you hate sleeping in one, that is the entire pitch.

Why A Ring Reads Sleep Better

Wrist wearables move. A band slides up the forearm, loses skin contact, and the optical sensor starts guessing. A ring sits on a finger where it cannot travel, which is why ring trackers tend to produce cleaner overnight data.

The Lifting Problem, From A Coach

Do not wear a metal ring under a loaded barbell. Ring avulsion injuries are rare, severe, and entirely preventable by taking it off for the session. You will lose the workout's heart rate data; you will keep your finger.

The Subscription Is Not Optional

The hardware does very little without the membership. Price this as the ring plus about $72 a year, because that is what it costs to keep using it.

The Short Version

The best sleep data you can get without a chest strap, sold as a subscription. Take it off before you squat.
