What Stands Out

  • Two insulated side pockets taking bottles up to 11 oz, which is the spec most bags get wrong
  • Side wipes pocket you can reach one-handed, which is the whole game on a changing table
  • Stroller straps built in, so it hangs rather than occupying the basket
  • Water-resistant polyester and nylon with reinforced seams at the straps and handle
  • Wide main opening, so you can actually see what is in there in a hurry
  • Looks like a backpack rather than a diaper bag, which is the reason dads carry it

What To Check

  • Styling is plain to the point of anonymous, which is the trade for not looking like a diaper bag
  • No changing pad station like the pricier bags include
  • Water resistant, not waterproof
  • Shoulder straps are comfortable at normal loads and thin out under a heavy one

What This Is

A diaper bag that does not announce itself. Most dads will carry a bag that looks like a backpack and will not carry one that looks like a diaper bag, and pretending otherwise just means it sits in the car.

The Two Specs That Matter

Insulated pockets that fit a real bottle. Plenty of bags have insulated pockets sized for a 6 oz bottle, which is useless by month four. Eleven ounces covers it.

One-handed wipes access from the outside. On a public changing table you have one hand on the kid, permanently. A bag that makes you open the main compartment and dig has failed at the only moment that counts.

What It Does Not Have

No fold-out changing station. If you want that, the bags with a built-in station are a different purchase. This one is a backpack that happens to be organized for a baby, which for a lot of dads is exactly right.

The Short Version

The one dads will actually carry, because it reads as a backpack. Insulated pockets fit real bottles and the wipes slot opens one-handed.
