What Stands Out

  • Gas springs let you move a screen with one hand instead of loosening hardware
  • Holds two screens from 13 to 32 inches, 4.4 to 19.8 lbs each
  • Tilt, swivel and 360 degree rotation, so a screen can go portrait for long documents
  • Raises a monitor up to 15.75 inches, which is enough to get the top of the screen to eye level on most desks
  • Cable guides run down the arms and keep the mess off the desktop

What To Check

  • Wooden desks only per the listing, and a cross beam or apron at the back edge blocks the clamp
  • Screens under 4.4 lbs can be too light for the spring to hold position
  • Only fits monitors with 75x75mm or 100x100mm VESA holes

The FlowLift is a two-arm monitor mount that clamps to the back edge of a desk and floats both screens on gas springs. It currently sits at the top of Amazon's computer monitor arms category, which is a crowded shelf full of look-alike mounts.

The reason to run one has less to do with screens and more to do with the desk under them. Two monitor feet eat the middle of a work surface. Clamp the arms to the back edge and the whole desktop comes back, which matters when the same table holds a training spreadsheet, a stack of homework and a LEGO build in progress.

Check your desk before anything else. The clamp bites into the back edge, so a loaded arm can pull on a light or hollow-core top. The listing specifies wooden desks only, no glass, and a cross beam or an apron at the back edge blocks the install. Once two screens are floating over the desk, a kid grabbing one to steady himself is the failure mode to plan for.

The Numbers That Matter

13 to 32 inches, 4.4 to 19.8 lbs per arm. The bottom of that weight range matters as much as the top. A very light screen may not have enough mass for the spring to hold it in place.

75x75mm or 100x100mm VESA. Flip the monitor over and look for the four holes before you order. No holes, no mount.

15.75 inches of lift. That is the range that decides whether the top of the screen lands at eye level or you keep looking down all afternoon.

Gas springs. One hand drops a screen low for a video call and pushes it back after, with no tools and no loosening a bolt.

SpecWhat it decides
13 to 32 in, 4.4 to 19.8 lbs per armWhether your two screens qualify
75x75mm or 100x100mm VESAWhether they can bolt on at all
0.59 to 3.54 in wooden desk edgeWhether the clamp fits your desk
15.75 in of liftWhether the screens reach eye level

The listing shows tilt as +85 and -50 degrees while the spec table lists a maximum tilt angle of 85 degrees, so the larger figure is the up direction only.

Who It Is For

The dad running two screens in a shared room, on a solid wooden desk with a clear back edge. If you only have one screen or a desk the clamp will not take, a riser like the WALI Computer Monitor Stand Riser does the eye-level job with no hardware. Once the arms are up, a YSAGi Leather Desk Protector covers the newly empty desktop, the Quntis ScreenLinear monitor light bar lights the desk without glare, and VELCRO One-Wrap cable ties finish the cable runs the arm guides start.

The Short Version

Two screens on gas springs is the biggest single change you can make to a home office that doubles as a homework table. It clears the desktop, it moves with one hand, and it puts the top of both screens where your neck wants them. Measure the desk edge and the monitor weight before you order, because the clamp is picky about both.
