Product Information, Not A Review

Specs, pricing and buying notes taken from the manufacturer so you can compare this against whatever else you are looking at. I have not had this one in my hands. When it goes through real use it gets rewritten as a full review, with a rating and my own photos.

What Stands Out

  • 9 sensors and 15 LEDs show the whole stud width and double studs, not a single beep at one edge
  • The middle LED turns green at the stud center, which is where the screw goes
  • No calibration; start scanning anywhere, even directly over a stud
  • Live AC wire warning before you drill
  • Made in the USA

What To Check

  • Takes two AAA batteries, not included, and it is not compatible with rechargeable batteries
  • Detection depth is up to 1.5 in., so plaster or thick walls in older homes may call for one of Franklin's deeper models
  • Warranty terms are not listed on the product pages

The ProSensor M150 is Franklin Sensors' 9-sensor stud finder. Instead of beeping at one edge, it lights a row of LEDs across the full width of the stud, and it warns you about live AC wires. It is one of Amazon's top sellers in Stud Finders and Scanners.

Most wall projects in a house with kids start here. The TV for game night, floating shelves for finished LEGO builds, a gear rack or bike hooks in the garage.

The Numbers That Matter

9 sensors, 15 LEDs. Multiple sensors read the wall at once, so the display shows where the stud starts, where it ends, and where two studs sit side by side. The center LED turns green when you are on the middle.

Up to 1.5 in. deep. That covers standard drywall over wood or metal studs. Older plaster walls can be thicker, which is where a deeper model earns its keep.

No calibration. Put it on the wall and scan. It does not need to start off a stud to read correctly.

Who It Is For

The dad mounting a TV, a shelf or a wall rack who wants to hit wood the first time. Once the stud is marked, the DEWALT DCK240C2 drill and impact driver kit and the DEWALT FlexTorq bit set handle the drilling and driving. For cleaning up the cables behind a newly mounted TV or desk, VELCRO Brand ONE-WRAP ties keep it tidy.

The Short Version

The M150 answers the first question of every wall project: where is the stud, and how wide is it. Seeing the full stud on the LED bar takes the guessing out of hanging a TV, a LEGO display shelf or a wall rack. Pick up AAA alkalines with it, since rechargeables will not work.
