Product Information, Not A Review

Specs, pricing and buying notes taken from the manufacturer so you can compare this against whatever else you are looking at. I have not had this one in my hands. When it goes through real use it gets rewritten as a full review, with a rating and my own photos.

What Stands Out

  • One HDMI cable and it works; there is genuinely nothing to configure
  • DTS Virtual:X and Dolby Audio for a wider sound than the TV's own speakers
  • 24 inches long and only 2.5 inches tall, so it fits under a TV without blocking the screen or the IR window
  • Bluetooth, so it doubles as a room speaker when the TV is off
  • Cheap enough to put in a bedroom or a garage gym without thinking hard

What To Check

  • 2.0: no subwoofer and no separate center channel, so bass is limited
  • Virtual surround is a processing effect, not channels
  • No Atmos
  • Fire TV branding implies an ecosystem lock that does not exist, but it is still an Amazon-first product

What This Is

The minimum upgrade that still counts as an upgrade. Modern TVs are too thin to hold a decent speaker, so almost any bar is a step up, and this is the one with the least friction.

Where 2.0 Is The Right Answer

A bedroom, a spare room, a garage gym, a kitchen TV. Anywhere you want to hear dialogue clearly and do not care about feeling an explosion. Spending more in those rooms buys capability nobody will use.

Where It Is Not

A main living room with a big screen. There a 5.1 system with a real subwoofer is a different experience, not a slightly better one.

The Short Version

The lowest-friction TV audio upgrade there is. Right for a bedroom or garage TV, underpowered for a main living room.
