Specs, pricing and buying notes taken from the manufacturer so you can compare this against whatever else you are looking at. I have not had this one in my hands. When it goes through real use it gets rewritten as a full review, with a rating and my own photos.

What Stands Out

  • Jeff Hays narrates the whole series, so the cast stays consistent book to book
  • Picks up directly from book 7; the series is one continuous story
  • The newest entry, so you are caught up with everyone else after it
  • Available on Audible and in print

What To Check

  • Start at book one. This series does not work out of order
  • Same profanity and violence as the rest of the series
  • Mike has not reached this one yet, so this is a product page rather than a review

Where this sits in the series

This is book eight, the newest Dungeon Crawler Carl. The series is one continuous story, so there is no version of starting here. Begin with book one, which is the one I have actually reviewed.

Listening instead of reading

A Parade of Horribles is included in Audible's catalogue, and a membership gets you a title a month rather than paying per book. Amazon runs the signup offer on a rolling basis and the terms change often, so the current one is on their page rather than mine. Whether it is worth it depends on how much you actually listen.

Worth noting about this series right now

Amazon's own Audible membership page currently lists all eight Dungeon Crawler Carl books in its most popular titles. Not one of them — all eight, alongside Grisham and Picoult. For a LitRPG series that started as a self-published oddity, that is a genuinely unusual thing to see, and it matches what happened to me: I picked up book one on a friend's recommendation and immediately committed to the whole run.

Audiobook or print

Jeff Hays narrates every book. By book eight you have had those voices in your head for well over a hundred hours, and switching formats this late costs you something real.

An honest note

I am on book three. I have not read this one, so there is no rating here and there will not be one until I have.

The Short Version

The current end of the series. Jeff Hays narrates it like he has the other seven, which is the argument for staying on audio.
